What to Expect When Flying with Pets

Pre-Departure: Regulations vary by country, but most require a “fit-to-fly” examination within 72 hours of takeoff by a licensed veterinarian. Our charter specialists will guide you through all necessary requirements and take care of your travel arrangements.

To ensure your pet’s comfort, it’s advisable to limit their food intake 4-6 hours before takeoff to reduce the risk of motion sickness.

Day of Departure: On the day of your flight, you and your pet will typically arrive at an FBO (Fixed Base Operator), where you’ll be greeted by the flight crew. A final check of your pet’s travel documents will be conducted before boarding. Unlike commercial flights, your pet will remain by your side as you step into the cabin.

On Arrival: Upon landing, specific arrival procedures will apply based on the country. Commonly, your pet’s microchip will be scanned, and all paperwork reviewed. Once these checks are complete, you and your pet are free to enjoy your new surroundings. A walk shortly after landing can help your pet acclimate to the new environment.

What Do I Need to Travel with My Pet?

• Current vaccinations as required by the destination country

Pet Travel Requirements by Destination

UK Travel Requirements:

• A valid pet passport or third-country veterinary certificate with microchip details
• Microchip must be IOS 11784 compliant and registered with an official veterinarian
• Rabies vaccination at least 21 days before arrival
• Dogs must receive a tapeworm treatment 24-120 hours before entering the UK, recorded in the pet’s passport
• Pets must be at least three months old to travel

Europe Travel Requirements:

• Valid pet passport or third-country veterinary certificate with microchip details
• Rabies vaccination 21 days prior to arrival
• Tapeworm treatment for dogs entering the UK, Ireland, Finland, or Malta

US Travel Requirements:

• Valid pet passport with microchip details
• Microchip must be IOS 11784 compliant and registered
• Rabies vaccination certificate for dogs, unless from a rabies-free country
• Vaccination details including manufacturer, batch number, and expiration date
• Pets must be at least 8 weeks old
